Where in the World is Waldo?

BLACKIE2_AUG Did I say Waldo? Errrr...I meant to say Blackie.

Blackie is getting longer. About 5 inches on the foot, as you can see. However, it seems we have some "issues"...(i.e. gauge issues). I was looking through the Official Pattern this morning after reading a post on my SoldiersForSocks yahoo group digest. Ooopsie.

Well. Hmmmm. I'm going to keep going though. Will make Blackie's buddy just like him.  Send it in and see if he passes inspection. Wish me luck!

I've signed up for  Ravelympics 2008! I'm on Team Hopelessly Overcommitted and will be participating in the Sock Put event!. My goals are to finish you-know-what, and then begin and finish this!

I do not know why.

Happy Knitting!

Happy Birthday Nana :-)

Birthdaycake
We celebrated my Mother's 83rd birthday on Monday night, July 28th!

Daddy was in charge of buying the cake. It was delicious! My sister gave her a pair of knitted socks (show off! ha!), and Auntie Jody arrived with her favorite Russell Stover chocolates (yum!). Our gifts : a beautiful stone flower pot for her container garden, a book about Mothers :),  and a wine goblet.

In attendance : Mommie (83!), Daddy (83!) , Auntie J (80!), twin daughters (ageless), favorite son-in-law (ha), and the youngest grandchild (soon to be 24!).  (Ooops, and Lucky, the cat!) A good time was had by all. :)

Happy Birthday, Nana! xo

Tiger looks a bit annoyed, doesn't he? Well, trust me, he's not the only one! After getting most excellent individual instruction at my Sunday afternoon knitting group [thanks again, Aimee!] , I was ready to get back to the heel turn that night. Everything was going well, but somehow someway I made a mistake. Oh oh. Back track. Start again.  Oh oh. Back track. Oh oh. Dropped a damn stitch. Oh oh. There's another one. Arrghh. Start frogging back a bit. Who am I kidding? There is no way I can get those fat fuzzy stitches back onto my size 0 dpns. Forgetaboutit. So, as you see in the evidence above, the 12 inch leg is now back into ball form. Pffffttt.

So...I've started again, only this time with a yarn that I think I'll like knitting with much better. Knit Picks Essential. In black. Of course. Doh. For this great charity! - Socks for Soldiers. Which can be found on Ravelry, too --- here. :)  AND btw, the military branches are phasing out the black socks, so, don't be saying you can't knit with black yarn.  Next pair, grass green! :)
